How can we help?

Find answers in the guides and FAQ below, or jump straight to the feedback form to report a bug or share an idea.

Alivenia requires no account and no setup before you can begin logging. When you open the app for the first time:

  1. You will be asked to confirm your current cycle phase — whether you are in your period, between periods, or unsure. This gives the prediction engine a starting point.
  2. Optionally set your average cycle length. If you do not know it, skip this — the app will learn it from your logs.
  3. That is it. You are ready to start logging.

The app improves the more you use it. Predictions become more accurate after 2–3 logged cycles.

Logging is designed to take under 3 seconds. From the home screen:

  1. Tap the rose petal menu in the center of the screen.
  2. Select the category — Period, Mood, Body, Energy, Sleep, or Pain.
  3. Tap your selection on the next screen. Done.

You can log multiple things in a single session — the menu stays open between selections. Tap outside the menu or press the back button to close it.

The large ring on the home screen represents your current cycle. The arc is divided into phases:

  • Rose arc — period days logged
  • Dimmer rose — predicted fertile window based on your history
  • The number in the center is the current cycle day

Below the ring is a date carousel. Swipe left or right to move between days and see what was logged on each one. The highlighted bubble is today.

Your data lives only on your device. To keep a copy or move it to a new phone:

  1. Go to Settings (hamburger menu → Settings).
  2. Tap Backup data.
  3. Enter a strong passphrase. This is the only key to your backup — write it down somewhere safe. We cannot recover it.
  4. Choose where to save the encrypted backup file (Files app, Google Drive app, USB, etc.).

The backup file is encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Without your passphrase it is unreadable — by anyone, including us.

Warning: Restoring a backup replaces all current data on the device. Make sure you want to proceed before confirming.

  1. Go to Settings → Restore backup.
  2. Locate your backup file using the file picker.
  3. Enter your passphrase when prompted.
  4. Confirm the restore. The app will restart with your restored data.

If the passphrase is wrong, the restore will fail with an error — no data will be modified.

Alivenia can generate a formatted PDF summary of your cycle history and symptoms — useful for medical appointments.

  1. Go to Settings → Generate health report.
  2. Choose the date range you want to include.
  3. Tap Generate PDF. The file is created entirely on your device.
  4. Share or save it using the system share sheet.

The PDF contains only the data you select. Nothing is uploaded or sent anywhere.

Alivenia can send local notifications — scheduled entirely on your device, with no server or account involved.

  1. Go to Settings → Reminders.
  2. Enable the reminders you want: period predictions, fertile window alerts, or daily logging nudges.
  3. Choose the time of day for each reminder.
  4. Grant notification permission when prompted by your operating system.

You can change or disable any reminder at any time from the same Settings screen.

Alivenia's prediction engine learns your personal pattern from your logged period start dates and cycle history. It does not use a fixed average — it adapts to you.

After your first logged cycle, predictions will be rough estimates. After 2–3 cycles, they should be reasonably accurate. Irregular cycles take longer to learn.

Predictions are displayed as probability estimates — not guarantees. Cycle length naturally varies. Do not use predictions for contraception or medical decisions.

No account, no sign-up, no email required — ever. Alivenia works immediately after you download it.
Only on your device, in an encrypted SQLite database. Your data never leaves your phone. We have no servers that receive it, no cloud storage for it, and no ability to access it.
The database is encrypted using SQLCipher with AES-256. The encryption key is stored in your device's Keychain (iOS) or Keystore (Android), protected by the device's hardware security module.
If you did not create a backup, the data cannot be recovered — it exists only on that device. This is an intentional privacy property: no one can recover data from a lost or stolen phone. Create backups regularly.
No. There is no way to recover a backup passphrase. We do not hold a copy of it. Write it down and keep it somewhere safe.
Predictions learn from your history. After one logged cycle they will be rough; after 2–3 they should be meaningfully accurate. Some cycles are naturally unpredictable.
No. Alivenia is not a contraceptive and should not be used as one. Cycle predictions and fertile window estimates are statistical models — they are not reliable enough for contraception decisions.
Check: (1) System Settings → Notifications → Alivenia — make sure notifications are enabled. (2) Make sure Do Not Disturb or Focus mode is not blocking them. (3) On Android, add Alivenia to the unrestricted battery list in Settings so background scheduling is not killed.
Go to Settings → Appearance. You can switch between light and dark mode, and choose from several color accent options.
Go to Settings → Reset all data. This permanently deletes everything, including all logs and your encryption key. This cannot be undone — make a backup first if you want to keep your data.
Alivenia will be available for iOS (iPhone) and Android. We are working toward launch on both platforms simultaneously.
